Economist Intelligence Unit has announced the 2007 rankings of MBA in September. Surprisingly, Aston University is ranked no.54 of the world.

Statistics isn't a reliable tool if you don't know how to interpret the numbers.
In terms of methodology, this research of Economists used the 4 criteria:
A. Open new career opportunities (35%)
B. Personal development/educational experience (35%)
C. Increase salary (20%)
D. Potential to network (10%)

Compared to Financial Times, it used weighted salary(20%) and salary percentage increase(20%) to be the most important criteria of rankings.

The report from "Which MBA Online" explained the different viewpoints of this research of Economists,
"This diversification of students' career needs means that arguably a school should be judged less on the basis of how much its graduates earn—a staple measure in most rankings (we assign a 10% weighting to increase in salary). A school that places 90% of its graduates into consulting and financial services firms will undoubtedly do well in any measure of earnings, and certainly better than one whose graduates are also to be found in the healthcare or not-for-profit sectors, for example. "

Before entering MBA, many people are confused about the rankings. Which one is really suitable for me? How to choose a better school?
In my opinion, you have to find out what you are looking for. If your dream is to join consulting and financial services firms, the prestigious Top 20s must be your only choice. But if your career path isn't in that field, you need to think about the investment and return rate, especially a foreign student.

Study abroad itself is absolutely an admirable experience, but when the gain is less than your expectation, you must understand: it's the reality.
MBA isn't a magic, your pre-MBA experience is the key of your new career.
